It’s already 2024, and women should not feel pressured into having children. This is a sentiment that actress Alexa Ilacad strongly supports.
In an interview with Inquirer.net, the 24-year-old actress expressed that there’s nothing wrong with women choosing not to have children. According to her, everyone should have the freedom to live the life they desire. “I completely understand! And that’s perfectly fine!” Alexa said when asked for her opinion on women who decide against having children.
Alexa elaborated, “I think nowadays, we’re more open to living life on our own terms without fearing judgment from others.”
She added, “You shouldn’t force yourself into doing something just because society expects it from you. In the end, it’s you who will bear the consequences,” she shared during the press conference for her latest film, Mujigae.

In case you didn’t know, Alexa headlines the movie Mujigae. She plays Aunt Sunny, who becomes a mother figure to Mujigae (Ryrie Sophia), a Korean-Filipino child. The emotional trailer reveals that Mujigae is the daughter of Sunny’s deceased sister. At first, Sunny is reluctant to take Mujigae in, as she doesn’t want children herself, but over time, they form a deep bond much like that of a mother and daughter.
The film also features South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo, who plays Mujigae’s biological father. Ji Soo, now venturing into Philippine entertainment, shared with PEP.ph about his experience working with Alexa on the film.

Although Ji Soo and Alexa didn’t share many scenes together, Ji Soo praised Alexa’s professionalism on set. “We didn’t have a lot of scenes together, but I saw how professional she is,” he said.
Ji Soo also complimented both Alexa and the rising child star for their performances in the movie. “Even though she’s younger than me, Alexa has a lot of experience, and she’s really good at acting. I even watched the trailer myself, and both Alexa and Ryrie were excellent. I’m just here to support them,” he added.
